Howdy folks! Michael Sims here, CoFounder and President of Hook + Gaff. We wanted to give an update on behalf of our friends at Cypress Cove Marina in Venice, Louisiana. This time last year Cypress Cove came under new ownership, and the fine folks over there have made a lot of improvements on all fronts to the lodge, the restaurant and grill, and the marina itself. They've been hosting tournaments all summer and have a few more planned for the fall. 
Many of you also know I usually trek out there to Venice at least once a year and have done this for 20 years or so. My brother Sonny and my brother-in-law Clark have also made some extra trips without me over the years, loading the freezer with tuna, wahoo, red snapper, and some inshore fish as well. This is a great place to book inshore/offshore charters and stay for a few days. And don't forget about duck season. There are some guides down here that specialize in a fall or winter cast and blast during early teal season and during the regular season. 
I've fished with a lot of captains in Venice over the years and have nothing but good things to say about every operation. For the most part, every captain and mate fishes HARD. Back in 2016 or 2017 we got connected with Captain Eddie Burger of Fish Venice Charters, and we've remained loyal to him since. We wrapped his two Contenders back then and several others since, and he has now moved his operation over to Cypress Cove.
