BECAUSE HOW WE SPEND OUR TIME MATTERS

MISSION MINUTE

Seek the Good. Share the Good.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by headlines. Bad news spreads fast. Negativity travels even faster.

But here’s the truth: good news is happening every single day . . . it just requires intention to notice it.

A neighbor helping a neighbor.
A coach investing in kids.
A dad taking his son fishing before sunrise.
A stranger paying it forward in the drive-through line.

Goodness doesn’t always trend. But it transforms.

At Hook & Gaff, our mission of Time Well Spent isn’t just about putting down your phone; it’s about lifting your eyes. Looking for the helpers. Noticing the quiet acts of courage. Celebrating the small wins.

When you seek out good news, you start to see more of it.
When you share good news, you multiply it.

Time is too valuable to spend it only consuming what’s broken. Let’s spend it highlighting what’s beautiful.

TIME FOR INSPIRATION

Because We ALL Can Be Inspired to Spend Our Time Intentionally

Change Your Algorithm

We all know the lure of our screens. A quick scroll turns into 20 minutes… then an hour… then a headache from all the negativity. While we encourage time away from screens in favor of real moments, we also understand that sometimes a little scrolling can be a guilty pleasure.

But here’s the catch: not all screen time feels the same. If your feed is filled with anger, rabbit holes, fear, or misinformation, your mood declines and so does your outlook on the world. Social media doesn’t have to be that way. You can take control of your experience by consciously changing what you engage with.

You have the power to change your algorithm
Every like, save, and share tells social platforms what you want to see more of.
So instead of feeding negativity, try this:

  • Like the good stories

  • Share uplifting posts with friends

  • Search for humorous memes, positive news or moments of kindness

  • Engage with accounts that celebrate hope, joy, and good in the world

The more you show interest in light, love, and progress, the more your feed reflects what matters most: connection, inspiration, and encouragement.

Positive Instagram Accounts to Add to Your Feed

Here are great accounts focused on good news, kindness, inspiration, and positive stories so that your time online leaves you feeling uplifted:

@goodnews_movement — Good news only, no politics, focusing on uplifting stories from around the world.
@tanksgoodnews — Positivity with a touch of humor — feel-good headlines to brighten your day.
@somegoodnews — Community-driven positive stories from people everywhere.            @upworthy — Stories that highlight the best of humanity

TIME FOR A CHALLENGE

Because Time Well Spent Starts With One Intentional Choice

This Week's Challenge: Change Your Algorithm
This month, we’re challenging you to take control of what you consume.

The 30-Day Algorithm Reset:

  • Engage only with positive accounts
  • Like and share good news
  • Search for uplifting or humorous stories
  • Follow creators who inspire, educate, or make you laugh
  • Unfollow (or mute) accounts that leave you angry, drained, or cynical

If it doesn’t bring you joy… it doesn’t deserve your attention. You’d never invite negativity into your living room. Why allow it into your mind? You can’t control the whole internet — but you can control your corner of it. Your algorithm is listening. Every like. Every share. Every follow. Every comment.
