Honoring a True Helper: Scott Ruskin
In the wake of the devastating floods in Texas, one name quietly rose above the waters—Scott Ruskin, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard who exemplified courage, compassion, and calm in crisis despite it being his first ever mission.
As floodwaters surged, Scott made it his mission to rescue those in danger—saving 165 children, many from Camp Mystic, with unwavering determination and heart. He didn’t ask for thanks. He just showed up. Again. And again. And again.
Mr. Rogers reminded us to “look for the helpers.” Scott Ruskin didn’t just show up—he stepped up, reminding us what Time Well Spent truly looks like: using your time, your strength, and your heart to protect others when they need it most.
To Scott—and to all the helpers who stand in the gap when tragedy strikes—thank you. Your actions are a living definition of heroism and hope. You remind us that there’s no better way to spend our time than by being there for one another.

TIME FOR A CHALLENGE
Because Time Well Spent Starts With One Intentional Choice
This Week's Challenge: Be the Helper. Wherever You Are.
As we watch the heartbreaking events unfold in Texas, our hearts are with every first responder, volunteer, and neighbor stepping in to help. The stories coming out of the floods—of bravery, kindness, and tireless service—remind us just how powerful it is to show up for one another.
This week, we challenge you to be a helper- in your own way. Big or small, it all matters.
-
Check in on a neighbor.
-
Send a note of encouragement.
-
Support a relief effort or fundraiser.
-
Be kind to someone having a hard day.
You don’t have to wear a uniform to make a difference. You just have to care enough to act.
Because Time Well Spent isn’t just about what we do for ourselves—it’s how we show up for others, especially when it matters most.
Let’s all be part of the good!
