As an avid fisherman, when I found out we were going to Isla Mujeres to catch sailfish, to say I was stoked would be a grave understatement. I’ve fished my whole life but had only ever heard stories of the sailfish down in Mexico in February. Stories of epic days with 40+ sails being caught quickly consumed my mind. I didn’t know much about sailfish — or really any billfish, if I’m being honest — but I knew I had sails on my bucket list, and there was a pretty darn good chance that I’d be crossing them off after this trip.
